The Solution is: Potato dishes

This one got me because it looked international before it looked obvious. The first clue was Dum aloo, and I instantly went down the cuisine rabbit hole. My brain threw out a few possibilities right away: Indian dishes, maybe potato dishes because aloo means potato, or even something about slow-cooked food because of dum. But if I’m being honest, the country-based idea felt the most tempting. So I guessed Indian dishes. That’s always the annoying part of Pinpoint. One clue gives you just enough confidence to be completely off. Then Gnocchi showed up. And that changed everything. Because gnocchi is Italian. So now the “Indian dishes” theory was dead on arrival. No way the game was grouping Indian and Italian food under one national cuisine label. That was the reset moment. I stopped thinking about geography and looked at the actual food itself. Dum aloo is built around potatoes. Gnocchi is, in its classic form, also built around potatoes. Not countries. Not cooking methods. Just the ingredient sitting quietly underneath both clues. I switched gears and guessed Potato dishes. Once that landed, the rest of the board basically turned into a celebration lap. Hash browns, French fries, and Tater tots didn’t just fit — they practically shouted the answer back at me. I liked this puzzle for that exact reason. It started with two clues that could send you toward culture or technique, then snapped back to something much humbler and more universal. Very Pinpoint. Very sneaky.
