Today's puzzle looked deceptively simple. The first clue was Classical. That immediately sent my brain in three different directions: music genres, architecture styles, maybe even literature periods. When a clue is that broad, it's almost dangerous. I decided not to overthink it. "Music genres" felt like the most obvious category. Then came the second clue: Bass. That's when everything shifted. "Bass" could still fit music genres… but not really alongside classical. Bass isn't a genre by itself. It could be a fish—but that obviously doesn't work with classical. Suddenly another possibility felt much stronger: different kinds of guitars. Classical guitar. Bass guitar. That pairing clicked immediately. Instead of stretching for something abstract like "musical instruments" (which felt too broad and vague), I went specific: Types of guitars. And that was it. Correct on the second guess. The remaining clues just sealed the deal. Double-neck? That iconic rock guitar with two fretboards. Electric? Probably the most recognizable modern variation. And then the final clue: Air (no instrument needed). That one made me laugh. Air guitar. Of course. It was the perfect playful closer. Once I saw that, the category felt even more satisfying—broad enough to include real instruments and imaginary ones. This was one of those puzzles where the first clue was almost too open-ended… but the second clue narrowed the field dramatically. A classic case of early misdirection followed by a very clean "aha" moment.
