Pinpoint 704 was one of those puzzles that looked completely scattered at first. Mailboxes gave me almost nothing solid to work with, so I started reaching for broad, slightly desperate ideas like types of boxes, email-related things, or just things you check. None of that felt great. And honestly, it wasn’t. When Toasters showed up, I had a slightly better angle. Both mailboxes and toasters have a kind of opening, so I started thinking about slots. But I still didn’t trust it yet. The pairing also nudged me toward something like kitchen appliances, which felt a little more concrete, so I chased that for a moment. Then came Television schedules. That was the turning point. Not because it matched the earlier guesses — it actually broke them. Television schedules obviously aren’t kitchen appliances, and they aren’t really about boxes either. But they do have time slots. And suddenly the earlier clues snapped into focus: Mailboxes → mail slot Toasters → bread slots Television schedules → time slots That was the aha moment. The puzzle wasn’t about a shared category of objects. It was about a shared structural idea hidden inside very different contexts. I guessed Things with slots. Once the pattern clicked, the remaining clues just confirmed it. Computer motherboards have expansion slots, and vending machines (for coins) have coin slots. At that point, the category felt airtight. What made this one fun was the way it forced a mental reset. The early clues tempted me into surface-level grouping, but the real connection lived inside the word slot itself. That kind of shift is always satisfying.
