The Solution is: Flavors of ice cream

I’ll be honest—today’s puzzle made me second-guess myself for no reason. The first clue was Pistachio. Immediately, my brain split into three lanes: nuts, general foods, or flavorings. Based on past experience with Pinpoint, the most obvious category is often a trap. So instead of overthinking, I leaned into the obvious and guessed "Nuts." Now things got messy. Pistachio is a nut. Coffee is a drink. So what’s the overlap? Foods felt way too broad. Beverages didn’t fit Pistachio. I even flirted with the idea of coffee-shop menu items for a second. Then Vanilla showed up. And that was the moment everything clicked. Pistachio. Coffee. Vanilla. They weren’t just edible things. They weren’t just ingredients. They were something much more specific—something you’d see lined up behind glass, scooped into a cone, and argued over at a dessert counter. That was the aha moment. Not spices. Not café items. Not vague “flavors” in the abstract. I didn’t even need Cookie dough or Mint chocolate chip, though those last two clues would have made the category impossible to miss. Today’s puzzle was a good reminder that Pinpoint sometimes looks trickier than it really is. The hard part is stopping yourself from getting too clever.
